Poem ispired by a trip by Sofia Liani. This picture below is the river Nestos near the city Xanthi. The village we visited is called Stavroupoli and its beautiful!
English
Θυμάσαι;/ Do you remember?
Εγώ και εσύ και μια ουρά φωτός/ You and me, a stream of light
Κάτω το ποτάμι ανάμεσα σε βλάστηση/ Beneath us the river between growth
Γιομάτη αναρχία και αγάπη/ full of anarchy and love
Και πάνωθέ του η εκδρομή μας/ and above us our journey
Η απόδρασή μας/ our escape
Με συνοδεία φωτός, τη Νύχτα/ In the night, accompanied by light
Λύγισε εμπρός μας η Μαγεία/ in front of us the magic bent
Προσκύνησε/ it kneeled
Και μια αρμαθιά πυγολαμπίδες σιμά μας/ a swarm of fireflies around us
Δίπλα στα κορμιά μας / close to our bodies
Και τα βλέμματα τόσο ήρεμα/ and the look on the faces so calm
Γαληνεμένα, ανυποψίαστα/ peaceful, unsuspected
Για τη μπόρα που ερχόταν/ about the storm that was to come
Και θα έμενε τόσο πολύ/ and that would stay so long
Για να τα διαλύσει όλα/ to tear everything apart
Εμένα, εσένα/ me, you
Αλλά εκείνο το φως τόσο ψεύτικο;/ Was that light so false?
Δε νομίζω/ I don't think so
Ήταν δικό μας εκείνο το φως/ That light was ours!
Ήταν η σφραγίδα μας/ it was our seal
Που πάντα θα μας ενώνει/ that will always connect us
Τι και αν φύγω/ What if I'm gone
Και γίνω ένα μακρινό σημάδι/ and become a distant mark
Σε κάποιο σημείο του ορίζοντα/ in some spot of the horizon
Αυτά που ζήσαμε ήταν δικά μας/ what we lived was ours
Ήταν εσύ και εγώ/ it was you and me
Και τα χρόνια μιας γλυκιάς αθωότητας / and the years of a sweet innocence
Σουσσσσσσσς/ Huuuushhh now...
Άκου/ Listen...
Μακριά χτυπάν καμπάνες από κρύσταλλο!/ Far away crystal bells are ringing
Αύριο λένε αύριο/ Tomorrow they say, tomorrow...
Το Πάσχα του ονείρου/ At the dreaming Easter
Να θυμάσαι/ Just Remember...
Oh and now I remembered (too much remember in this post) an old song with the title... guess... yes "do you remember" A toast to the beautiful memories...
